Situation Update

Alaska VA Healthcare is scheduling enrolled Veterans for COVID-19 Moderna vaccinations.
The Anchorage clinic is scheduling Veterans 55 and older. You can call (907)257-4700, press option 2 then option 1 to schedule for a COVID vaccine appointment, if your meet the above requirement.
Please understand the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine is given in two doses (28 days after the first dose).
The Anchorage clinic is the only facility offering this call-in option at this time.
We are constantly reviewing our COVID-19 vaccination process and looking for opportunities to maximize with the widest and quickest methods to provide the vaccination to Veterans.
When more information is available, Alaska VA Healthcare will let Veterans know of areas administering vaccines to Veterans via its website, email distribution, social media, and other media.
Alaska’s record-breaking number of COVID-19 cases during the past month coupled with a significant increase in patients with COVID-19 requiring hospitalization are raising concerns about the health and well-being of Alaskan Veterans and our health systems’ capacity to treat them. That’s why we strongly encourage all Veterans to follow the guidelines that Governor Dunleavy established to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The collective sacrifices of our Veterans are significant but we are asking Alaskan Veterans to answer the call again. Continue the success and be ever vigilant. Your efforts have saved lives and prevented Alaskan hospitals and clinics from being overwhelmed by patients critically ill with COVID-19, and for that, we and our health care workers caring for patients on the front lines are truly grateful.
We understand that people are tired and frustrated, but we must remain vigilant and prepared. We do not yet have a sure medical treatment to prevent or treat COVID-19 once a person is infected, so our best defense continues to be a good proactive offense.
Our VA health system in coordination with our state partners are committed to doing everything we can to provide care to all those who need us, and to that end, we are closely coordinating our efforts, in partnership with county, state and regional public health officials, to ensure we have adequate personnel, supplies, treatment space and equipment, but we urgently need your help by using our virtual services.
The Alaska VA has a robust virtual appointment system that can be coordinated by calling your primary care or mental health team and arranging a virtual appointment. COVID tests can be arranged through your primary care provider for symptomatic Veterans. Please call your Primary Care Team or the Veteran Triage line at 907-257-4710. In addition to the VA’s prescription mail out program, Veterans can at our Anchorage clinic take advantage of our curbside medicine pick-up program – with the program, you park in the comfort of your car in designated pharmacy pickup spaces and call the pharmacy at 907-257-4823. Our team can bring medications out to your vehicle.
Throughout this pandemic you need to protect yourself and others. Please stay home to the extent possible, wear a mask, perform hand hygiene and maintain physical distancing.
Thank you for your continued support.
